A cushion cover made from a vintage kimono. We paid close attention to details such as the placement of the pattern and the color scheme of the piping.  It's all one of a kind.

By applying gold tape to the flower wheel, it seems to stand out three-dimensionally. By coloring the green piping, the white kimono fabric pattern used for the side panels also stands out.

Hanaguruma is a design that combines the imperial carriage and flowers that have been used since the Heian period (794-1192). The flower wheel is a gorgeous dynasty-like pattern that can be seen after the Edo period (1603-1868). When flower arrangement was born in the Muromachi period (1136-1573), it became a custom for the upper classes, such as nobles and samurai, to decorate their homes with flowers. The flower wheel pattern followed this trend, and it seems that it was adopted as a motif for kimono patterns in the Edo period.
